by News Staff Posted Jan 4, 2015 12:25 pm MDT Calgary’s mayor hopes 2015 is the year some important work, that will improve the operations of city hall, will be completed.“I’m hoping we will get real movement on the City Charters for Calgary and Edmonton and on the Municipal Government’s Act to allow cities to work better,” Naheed Nenshi said in a year-end interview with 660News.Nenshi said he also wants to address some of the red tape issues of doing business with the city.“I’m very hopeful we’ll be able to continue doing the ‘cut red tape’ work within the City of Calgary and making this whole corporation. this whole organization, these 20,000 people even more responsive and more citizen centred. We’ve made some really good progress on that but we’re not all the way on that yet.” Nenshi said he hopes to finalize what he calls a “new fiscal” framework which would cover a number of things ranging from developer fees to a more stable and predictable funding deal with the provincial government.
