Weekly Direct Shipping Service Launched Between Morocco and Russia

Rabat – The worldwide shipping group CMA CGM has launched a new linking service between Morocco and Russia called “AGAX,” allowing the delivery of vegetables and fruits in eight days without any stopover. In a communiqué published on the official website of the the shipping group, on Tuesday, CMA CGM  said that this service was created in partnership with its subsidiaries OPDR and ComanavThe group noted that it will provide the fastest transit times on the market by linking Agadir and Saint Petersburg. “Southbound, the ports of Hamburg and Rotterdam still act as important hubs and offer various transshipment and intermodal opportunities,” said CMA CGM.The group went on to say that besides this new service, it maintains a position on the Morocco-Northern Europe/Russia trade with two other weekly lines: DUNKRUS and CISS.“From March 16th, the following rotation will be operated in partnership with SEAGO with 3 x 868 TEU vessels (two being operated by CMA CGM and one by SEAGO): Casablanca – Agadir – St. Petersburg – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Casablanca,” it added.Exportation deals between Russia and Morocco have risen over the past few years.The Association of Fruit and Vegetable Exporters and Producers said in 2015 that the exports of fruit and vegetable from Morocco to Russia increased from 14 to 20 percent“There was a strong demand, especially for tomatoes, cucumber and slightly less for peppers. Cherry tomatoes are also increasing in demand. Russians imported from Southern Europe,” said Saad Silimani, president of the association. read more
