Mets Beat Dodgers to Win NLDS!

first_imgTweetPinShare0 Shares LOS ANGELES, CA – In a thrilling, come-from-behind win to capture their first postseason series victory since 2006, the New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on the road, behind the stellar pitching of their most dominant pitcher this year, Jacob deGrom, and win the National League Division Series (NLDS) three games to two.Through six innings, deGrom threw more than 100 pitches, and more than half of those with runners in scoring position. But he remained poised and held the Dodgers to just two runs, both in the first inning.Mets’ second baseman Daniel Murphy was the star offense, going 3-for-4, with a heads-up play to essentially steal third base and then score, and then a sixth inning solo homer to put the Mets ahead for good.Dodgers’ ace Zach Greinke pitched well. As a matter of perspective, he almost never blows a lead.Noah Syndergaard relieved deGrom in the 7th, and then the Mets’ closer, Jeurys Familia, pitched two flawless innings – he is often underappreciated as a multiout reliever – to put the game away. The Mets now open the National League Championship Series (NLCS) on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Citi Field against the Chicago Cubs, who have their own fan base excited this year because they haven’t won the World Series in 107 years.last_img read more
