First Lady treats male residents of The Palms to a spa day

first_imgFirst Lady Sandra Granger paid a visit to the men’s dormitory of The Palms Geriatric Home on Friday to follow-up on a wellness initiative she started with the female residents last month. The exercise was held in collaboration with the Social Protection Ministry, the Women Across Differences (WAD) group and Pastor Sean Sobers of the Destiny Empowerment Worship Centre.The men were given haircuts by a group from the church as part of its outreach programme and today they were preparing for a special spa session of manicures and pedicures from the girls attached to the WAD group when the Ministry of the Presidency visited the facility.First Lady Granger also presented all the male residents from the four dormitories with a pair of pajamas each. She commended the young women attached to the WAD group and expressed gratitude for the church’s participation, noting that the gesture was appreciated by the men and the caregivers at the facility.Lewis Hart, a resident of The Palms Geriatric Home and First Lady Sandra Granger share a light moment when she visited the facility on FridayThe residents and the First Lady interacted warmly with each other. Some thanked her for taking the time to visit them again. Others thanked her for their gifts, while others expressed their admiration for her service. Robert John, a resident of Ward Four, charmed all the visitors with his singing, particularly when he serenaded the First Lady with a melodies rendition of “God be with you till we meet again.”Meanwhile, Director of Social Services at the Social Protection Ministry, Wentworth Tanner, said that the Ministry was pleased to partner with the Office of the First Lady on this initiative as it is in keeping with its overall plan to enhance the services offered at the retirement home.last_img read more
